Exeter’s newest Sevens Tournament has been given a fresh look in a bid to avoid confusion with others events in the region.
Rebranded this week, the South West Rugby 7s is the latest addition to the popular Sevens circuit and will run alongside the prestigious European Grand Prix Sevens, which takes place at Sandy Park on the weekend of July 10-12.
Keen to ensure there was no mix-up with a similar event being held in Bristol, organisers of the South West Rugby 7s have made minor amendments to their title in a bid to promote both tournaments to their Sevens-loving audience.
Backed by the launch of a brand new website, www.swrugby7s.co.uk, the Exeter team have put together a fun-filled package of events and offers that aim to cater not only for competing teams, but also spectators keen to make the most of a weekend in the Westcountry.
John Wood, Head of Corporate at Exeter Chiefs, said: “There are a number of amateur club Sevens tournaments around, and although with ours being associated with the Exeter Chiefs it’s likely to become one of the biggest in future years, we were keen to support all Sevens events with similar names so we chose to make a change to save any confusion in the first year.”
The South West Rugby 7s is open to all and will offer both Elite and Social teams the chance to battle it out for glory at the home of Aviva Premiership high-flyers, Exeter Chiefs.
